The typical village of Cotignac is located at 17 km from the campsite. It sets at the foot of an impressive, 80 metres high rock. This former fortified town still holds two towers, which dominate Cotignac. The particularity of these towers is that they do not have an entrance door. The story goes that the towers were linked to the rock by secret passageways … During invasions, the inhabitants and their animals used to shelter in cave dwellings, some of which are still visible. The exceptional setting against the rocks, the preserved history and the pleasant environment make Cotignac a site worth to visit during your stay in the Haut Var, at the banks of the Verdon.
