Charming museum located next to the town hall in the heart of the listed village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, the Faience Museum retraces several centuries of unique craftsmanship that long made the village famous. The traditional art of faience-making is particularly renowned in Moustiers thanks to the use of exceptionally high-quality local clay, allowing for the finest ceramic work. In the 17th century, Moustiers faience was famous throughout the kingdom and became the only tableware used at the court of Louis XIV, where it replaced silverware.
The museum showcases the finest pieces of Moustiers faience, first adorned with cobalt-blue motifs, then with more colourful and whimsical decorations, sometimes even grotesque in style. In total, more than 300 pieces are displayed in charming rooms and elegant showcases within an 18th-century private mansion.

Admission to the Faience Museum costs €3 (full price) and €2 (reduced rate). It is free for children under 16. Individual visits are self-guided. Guided tours are available for groups of up to 25 people, at a rate of €4 per visitor.
The museum is open on weekends in November, December, February and March; every day except Tuesday during Zone B school holidays and in April, May, June, September and October; and daily in July and August. It is closed every year in January. The Faience Museum also features a gift shop. Many other faience workshops and shops can be found throughout the village.
Getting to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie from the campsite is straightforward: the museum is located 32 km north of L’Oasis du Verdon. Simply take the D957 from Aups towards Les Salles-sur-Verdon, cross the Galetas Bridge, then follow the D952 up to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.
