Spending Three Days in the Verdon

Are you staying at our Verdon campsite in Aups and have three days to discover the wonders of the Verdon? Good news: even with limited time, you can enjoy an unforgettable experience combining spectacular landscapes, characterful villages, and relaxing moments by the water.
Here is an ideal itinerary to explore the must-see sights without rushing, while fully enjoying every moment.

Day 1: Gorges du Verdon and Hilltop Villages

Start your stay with an immersion in the Gorges du Verdon, one of the most beautiful canyons in Europe.

🚗 From the campsite, allow 25 minutes’ drive to reach the Pont de Galetas, via Les Salles-sur-Verdon. The road is stunning, offering panoramic viewpoints over Lake Sainte-Croix. Don’t forget your camera.

🛥️ Once there, rent an electric boat (dog-friendly), a canoe, or a stand-up paddleboard to navigate through the gorges. The route is about 3 km long, but every metre is magical: towering cliffs, turquoise waters, and majestic silence.

🏘️ After this refreshing water adventure, head to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. Wander through its narrow streets, admire the famous suspended star, and enjoy lunch in one of its traditional restaurants.

🌾 On the way back, take the road that follows Lake Sainte-Croix via Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon. In season, it passes through lavender fields and offers breathtaking views over the lake. The village is well worth a stop for its charm and lakeside terraces.

🍽️ In the evening, reach the village of Aups on foot via the 300 m pedestrian path from the campsite. For dinner, enjoy the friendly atmosphere at Chez ta mère or Le Saint Marc, Solea, or Aux Tilleuls.

Day 2: Hiking in Quinson and Sunset in Bauduen

This second day is all about nature and tranquillity.

🚶‍♂️ In the morning, set off on a hike in Quinson along the Sentier du Garde-Canal. This trail runs along the lower gorges of the Verdon and is suitable for families and dogs (outside peak season). The scenery is breathtaking, offering spectacular photo opportunities.

🌅 In the late afternoon, head to Bauduen, a charming lakeside village. Walk through the village, pass the watersports centre, and settle into one of the wild coves for a picnic or aperitif facing the sunset. A peaceful, timeless moment.

Day 3: Provençal Villages Around Aups

For your final day, explore the authentic villages of the Haut-Var.

🏞️ Start with Aups, its market, narrow streets, fountains, and Provençal atmosphere.

🌄 Then discover the surrounding area:

  • Tourtour, nicknamed the “village in the sky,” with its panoramic views
  • Villecroze, with its troglodyte caves, shaded park, and medieval village
  • Sillans-la-Cascade, famous for its waterfall hidden in the forest
  • Cotignac, set against a majestic cliff, blending art, spirituality, and a relaxed way of life

🍷 To round off your stay, treat yourself to a lunch or dinner at Picotte in Cotignac, a renowned spot known for its generous cuisine and enchanting setting.

In Summary

Three days are enough to experience the essence of the Verdon:

  • Spectacular gorges
  • Charming villages
  • Gentle activities by the lake
  • And a deep immersion in authentic Provence

From L’Oasis du Verdon campsite, everything is within easy reach, allowing you to enjoy a stay rich in emotions, discoveries, and breathtaking landscapes.

« Excellent campsite!
Family, calm and quality. In addition, it is a 15-minute walk from the city centre and a half-hour drive from the activities of the Gorges du Verdon. The managers are friendly and very welcoming. They bend over backwards to help campers. For example, I rented a barbecue twice and the manager dropped it off and systematically picked it up at my location without asking for anything. The animation team is at its best, my partner loved aquafun and my son really enjoyed the night treasure hunt. We had some great fried mussels. To put it simply, I had already eaten some of the less good ones elsewhere, but I don't remember tasting any better ones. In short... I recommend L'Oasis du Verdon and it is with great pleasure that I will return with my family! »

«Natura VIP
A very quiet and clean campsite with a beautiful swimming pool and enough to let the children cycle quietly on the whole site. The owners are very kind and always available. Natura VIP accommodation at the top and very relaxing. I really recommend this campsite for a great time with the family! »

★★★★★

« A very pleasant, quiet and family campsite offering quality entertainment that encourages conviviality between holidaymakers. The owners and the animators are attentive to the well-being of the residents and ensure that the rules of good conduct are respected. The mobile home was impeccable when we arrived. The proximity of the village is particularly appreciable (we used to walk to the market) and the various points of interest in the region are only a few kilometres away. Note: a varied catering service offering excellent cuisine. We'll come back next year! »
